Ryan students are the First School Students in ASIA to discover an Asteroid

Ryan International School, Rohini students – Amonjot Singh and Sahil Wadhwa of class XII have brought honour to the school and country by discovering an asteroid in the orbit of Mars. They are the first school students in Asia to discover an Asteroid. This research was conducted in association with the SPACE astronomy club as part of the All India Asteroid Search Campaign. Under the able guidance, vision and inspiration of Founder Chairman Dr. Augustine Francis Pinto and Managing Director Madam Grace Pinto, this achievement of Ryanites adds another feather to their cap.
The asteroid 2010 PO24 has been notified by the International Astronomical Search Collaboration (IASC), Texas. The students will have the opportunity to name the asteroid which is temporarily designated 2010 PO24. Special software called ASTROMETRICA were given to these two students to analyze these pictures on 3 parameters – graph, their movement and SNR value.
Madam Grace Pinto says "We thank God for gifting our children with such innovative exploring skills as a part of our school environment. Nothing is Impossible. Even "impossible" is "i-m-possible". All our students dream high and as a school, we work towards realizing their dream to a reality."

Ryan International Group of Institutions bags International School Award
It is indeed a prestigious moment for all Ryanites to know that 17 schools across India under the aegis of Ryan International Group of Institutions have been successfully accredited with the British Council International School Award (ISA) for 2008-09.
The ISA is a global platform that provides recognition for teachers and their schools working to instill a global dimension into the learning experience of every child and young people. It is an accreditation scheme run by the British Council for the Department for Children, Schools and Families in the UK. It’s a scheme that recognizes good practice in adding an international dimension to the school curriculum.
Under the ISA, Ryan schools made an annual action plan consisting of 7-8 activities as per the guidelines from the British Council and then implemented it as a part of the curriculum with providing evidence for the same.
The Managing Director of Ryan International Group of Institutions, Madam Grace Pinto also expressed her views as, “ISA is a global platform that gives an exposure to every child to experience global cultures so as to understand and appreciate the differences between varied cultures. This award is just the beginning…..it is a recognition and acknowledgement of the efforts put in by the students and teachers….We hope to continue exchanging pedagogy and ideas with the international links established during this journey.”
The Project Manager (West India) of British Council, Ms.Ruchira Ghosh expressed her experience as; ‘It was interesting to see a large number of schools from the Ryan Group apply for the prestigious International School Award in 2008-9. The dossiers reflected a wide range of international activities and varied approaches to internationalism. The schools that have been successfully awarded the accreditation have demonstrated their commitment to developing international dimension in the curriculum and we would like to encourage them to develop this further in the coming years.’
Times of India NIE today (22.07.2009) SHRIYA KACHRU – XII B from Noida Branch awarded the Second Prize for outstanding performance in Senior Category of the “Times NIE Words Worth Essay Competition 2009”. She has emerged as a winner amongst almost 10,000 students from NCR.

Ryanite-Saviour of the ENVIRONMENT
Flying officer Samir
Abrol, a proud alumnus of Ryan International School
and now a commissioned fighter pilot in the Indian
Air Force.

I owe all the above to my schooling
at Ryan's. The environment that encouraged all
round development, the teachers who were always
approachable and ready to help, and exposure to
events like INMUN, BSA Activity and Macfair.

- Ryan students achieve Co-Pilots
license in Canada : Imagine a school
student flying an airplane on his/her own!
We take great pride in announcing the commendable
feat of achieving the Airtime Canada Co-Pilots
license by 11 young students and 2 instructors
of Ryan International Group of Institutions.
These groups of 11 students are the youngest
school children in India to have gained this
international experience in the field of Aviation.
RIGI believes that it is the responsibility
of educational institutions to cater to the
growing need of Quality Skill Development
Education in India. Therefore, we have initiated
efforts to fulfill this need by having established
Friendship Institutions across the globe and
School District # 42 is one of them located
in Vancouver, Canada. We were fortunate to
have jointly organized an Aviation and Leadership
Camp for 12 to 15 year old Ryan students.
We are confident that our initiative will
be ably supported by the Government and Aviation
Industry.
The Basic Aviation Skills program was delivered
by Pacific Rim Aviation Academy and Air Fun
at the Pitt Meadows Airport Canada, in association
with the School District # 42. The Program
has been running since 1994 and is highly
rated for commitment to safety. Instructors
are well trained and experienced in Canada
and airplanes are maintained to the highest
Canadian Standards. For this program Pacific
Rim instructors were used & briefed on
the content and delivery as per strict guidelines.
Our two fold objective behind this initiative
was to orient students with a hand-on experience
of being a pilot and thus opening an avenue
to consider Aviation as a possible career
option and to enhance their self-confidence
and boost their leadership skills.
- RYAN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL,SANPADA
: OUR SOLDIERS MARCH TO THE PINNACLES
OF GLORY
Ryan International School, Sanpada reaped
an undefined victory on a prestigious research
paper entitled “Doors to Diplomacy”.
It is often said that “A project done
in a cumulative Manner remains in memory for
ever”. Our team had strenuously put
in their efforts to achieve this target. The
entire credit of this project goes to our
battalion Mst. Dhwanil Shah, Mst. Abhiraj
Darshankar and Ms. Shruti kokate and the team
commanders Miss Sheeba Ajay and Miss Rashmi
Singh.
We use metonymy for the term “Soldiers”
as it symbolizes “The protectors of
the World.” Our students feel that they
have the authority to shield this world and
make it a better place to live. The problem
of child labour is prevailing everywhere in
this world. The main objective of our project
was to make the people aware about eradicating
the evil menace of child labour from our society.
Our team was sagacious on this project and
held a view that they were THE VIGILS –
The Progeny Undefined. In this path of success
our team was lead towards a beam of light,
we have sincerely put forward the directives
in this esteemed paper presentation. The reward
of this sublime project was beyond expectation.
Our honour lies in receiving GOLD AWARDS sponsored
by US State Departm-ent. Our search led us
to root cause and general matters concerning
Child Labour. Futhering our investigation
we had to interact with voluntary organization
like “CRY” and many other organizations
working for the cause of children. About 150
surveys were conducted, 50 online surveys
on net we realized that 179 million children
in the six to fourteen age group do not go
to school and are engaged in child labour.
This was really an eye opener for our investigating
team.
Our aim is to set up a centre named “VATSALYA”
which means love and care. We are also focusing
on NANOTECHNOLOGY. It is a form of emerging
technologies set to change the world. Nanotechnology
is the field of applied science and technology
covering a broad range of topics. It involves
structures, devices and having novel properties
and functions due to arrangement of their
atoms on the 1 to 100 nanometer scale. A group
of four students Mst. Ankit Seal, Mst. Madhusudhan
Kale, Mst. Pratik Gupta, Ms. Shweta Chabukswar
worked under their coach Miss Madhavi Sarang
on this project and received HONOURABLE MENTION
AWARD.
We are grateful to the Chairman Dr Augustine
Pinto and Managing Director Madam Grace Pinto
for their kind support and goodwill in all
our endeavor. Hoping to get involved in more
progressive assignments with your blessings.
May success be always be there in our path.

get an insight into journalism. Akash Deep
Choudhary and Shreya Garg of class XI participated

the experience as an enlightening one which
was full of thrill and fun.
The show ‘I-SPY with my digital eye’
organized by NDTV is a step initiated towards
making television media transparent to the
people outside. It is a competition where
a team of two students of class XI and XII
from different schools come together and
are given sophisticated media equipment
such as cameras, microphones etc. They are
then trained to use the equipment and thereafter,
are left free for 48 hours, allowed to shoot
whatever they want, on a given topic, and
edit it the third day to whip it into the
shape of a four minute audio-visual report.
On the fourth day, the teams come together
and the winners are announced after a discussion
about all the reports.
The topic given to the duo was ‘Street

- Ryan Institute for Market Driven Education (RIMDE) had offered WIDE world (Developed at Harvard Graduate school of Education)'s online course on Multiple Intelligences for more than 150 educators of Ryan International group of institutions. The theory of Multiple Intelligence was developed by Prof. Howard Gardner from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a course led by the WIDE World instructors had helped Ryan International teachers to address the needs of their students with different learning styles and strengths.
This online course comprised of 12 weeks professional development and involved many teachers from institutions all over the world. They worked in school-based teams and joined study groups led by WIDE World coaches from around the world. As in other WIDE World courses, participants in the MI course collaborated with other educators in their school-based teams and completed course assignments that require to apply what they are learning in their classroom settings and discuss/reflect on the outcomes with their teammates and study group colleagues.
An awareness of the Multiple Intelligence (MI) theory stimulated the teachers to find more ways of helping students in their classes and allowed them to safely explore and learn in many ways. Adults can help students understand and appreciate their strengths, and identify real-world activities that will stimulate more learning.
It is surely the first time in India that 115 teachers from a single educational group (Ryan) have joined as a combined group to enroll for an online course specially using technology as a tool. The course will develop one's understanding of how Multiple Intelligences (MI) theory fines and describes intelligence, the ways in which Multiple Intelligences theory can support teaching and learning practices, how one can apply MI theory well according to one's goals, and how one can learn effectively in an online environment. The kick-off workshops for the participants was directly conducted by the WIDE consultants in Surat and Delhi on 2nd and 4th February 2008 respectively. The online orientation of the course has begun from 7th February 2008, with participations from approx.200 teachers worldwide from China, Canada, United States, Iran, Nigeria, and Turkey. Our Indian teachers across the nation will be communicating, interacting and sharing ideas with various teachers through their different study groups.
Mrs. Grace Pinto, the Managing Director of Ryan International group exclaims, "We render all the due credit for our success to God and RIMDE for their efforts in availing the professional development services of WIDE World at Harvard Graduate School of Education in developing our teachers on the critical theory of Multiple Intelligence. We are confident that our efforts will enhance our teachers to the world of interactive learning and teaching. This course is just a small seed which is being sowed between our respective institutions and will soon cater to lot of mutual initiatives in the days to come. Very soon, we aim to develop several Ryan International Group of Institutions faculty as WIDE World coaches within our institutions."
This initiative has been forwarded as a unique claim to the "Limca Book of Records'' for being the largest online group of teachers from a single educational group to ever join an ONLINE teacher education course through Internet from India.

- A Leap towards quality education
: In an age where fierce compe¬tition
over academic excellence is laying grounds
to deteriorate the quality of ed¬ucation,
Ryan International School, Gore¬gaon has
proved it otherwise when it was adjudged the
top ranking school in the state and 16th best
in the country in a re¬cently released
survey conducted by Ed¬ucation World-
IMRB (Indian Market Re¬search Bureau).
The felicitation ceremony involved a panel
discussion on 'Nurturing the Fu-ture Leaders',
which was addressed by Jitender Balakrishnan,
deputy manag-ing director, IDBI Bank Ltd,
Charles As¬sisi, business editor, Times
of India, Anil Singhvi, markets editor, CNBC
Awaaz and Dilip Thakore, editor, Education
World. The focus of the discussion mod¬erated
by George Koshy, CNN-IBN re-volved around
several aspects concern¬ing upgradation
and excellence of edu-cation, which emphasized
on the need of a synergy between the corporate,
acade¬mia and media for an effective education
system for future generation students.
The host of the programme, Ryan In¬ternational
Group of schools, spear-headed by Dr Augustine
Pinto said, "It is our vision to be a
premier global educa¬tional institution
and provide all round development qualities
in all our students. This ranking is a proof
of our efforts in this direction."
While Thakore pointed out at the alarming
statistics of education in India, he remarked,
"Corporate organisations need to pitch
in and interact or form train¬ing centres
within educational institu¬tions to supplement
teachers' training programmes and curriculum
develop¬ment." To this, Balakrishnan
responded, "We need to introspect our
education sys¬tem deeply and rethink on
the existent policies and corresponding needs
of the society. We need to have institutions
that offer a professional cutting edge to
our students to make them global citizens
and at the same time, plan to reach out at
the rural levels. "
When a parent from the audience raised her
concerns on the dearth of ex-perienced and
well-trained teachers due to poor salaries,
Thakore replied, "The only solution here
is to increase our spending on education,
so that we can hire qualified teachers for
our students and retain them too." He
also envisioned ways to take education topmost
on the national agenda.
Charles Assisi opined that media can playa
critical role in the overall devel-opment
of students and is equally re¬sponsible
for shaping their career goals. He also responded
to the reservation is¬sue saying, "Affirmative
reservation will only help to bring the deprived
sections of the society to mainstream education."
While Anil Singhvi pointed out that an increasing
number of parents burden their students by
expecting them to ex¬cel in academics,
he also urged them "to identify a child's
potential, his/her area of interest and further
encourage them to do what they are best at."
Koshy rein¬stated that establishing a
positive syner¬gy among corporate organizations,
aca¬demia, media and government would
leave a promising mark behind for oth¬ers
to take the cue and follow.
Dr Augustine Pinto made a valuable point,
"It is very easy to play the blame game
or point a finger at what is not be¬ing
done. Instead, each one of us should be proactive
and implement the 'each one teach one' programme
that we intend to take forward from this year."
The thought provoking session ended on a promising
note that where there is a confident will,
there is a definite way.

The 9th ICSQCC Convention : A
journey into the Realms of Quality began
nine years ago for Ryanites when the school
realized that the issue of quality is as
old as education itself and cannot be seen
in isolation from the socio cultural context
of education, as the role of the school
is to spread culture and reason. Thus was
created an environment for active involvement
and participation of children in every area
of school life by bringing in into play
their total commitment, dedication and innovative
spirit through their appreciating, understanding
and following the philosophy of quality
circles for achieving excellence of performance,
thereby increasing satisfaction, happiness
and improving the quality of life.
Since then there has been no looking back
and these children have accepted all challenges
and risen to each occasion believing success
is only the completion of another step and
that each end is preceded and followed by
a new beginning. Now since nine years and
innumerable ventures later once again these
children have proved that there is no stopping
them as they have returned victorious from
the 9th ICSQCC Convention which was held
at Srilanka with a bag full of awards and
the Over All Championship Trophy for their
excellent case study presentations. Also
winning the 1st prizes for Debate, Skit,
Poster and Slogan and Collage Competitions
proved that the talents of these multifaceted
Ryanites are not confined to a single area.
The convention was an excellent opportunity
for these children to learn and grow as
they had a chance to meet and compete against
delegates from all over the world.
These achievers give the credit for their
success to their Chairman Sir Dr.Augustine
Pinto and Managing Director Madam Grace
Pinto who are their mentors and have inspired
them to explore new vistas and provided
them with the opportunities to experiment
and achieve new goals.
